POSITION SUMMARY:  

Create technical drawings and design documents to support production of Switchgear Division products.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Responsible for maintaining revision control on all CAD files.
  • Prepare drawings in collaboration with Applications/Sales/Design Engineers.
  • Assemble/Convert design concepts from engineering staff and create design documents that fully specify the design intent and support the manufacture of the product.
  • Prepare both mechanical and electrical design documents.
  • Make recommendations to improve product cost, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Work with production personnel (both Division and vendor) to resolve design issues.
  • Create drawing files and keep them updated according to Company procedures.
  • Support and assist Design Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
  • Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.  Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Provide basic design support for Applications and Design Engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Associate’s degree in drafting or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a custom manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced skills with 3D modeling CAD packages.
  • Advanced skills with both mechanical and electrical drawing practices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and ERP/MRP systems.
