Position Summary
Perform all mechanical assembly, wiring, testing, and gas handling tasks for MEPPI products.
Essential Functions
- Perform any of the Assembly Technician I and II duties and responsibilities as needed.
- Complete mechanical assembly of MEPPI products according to drawings, bills of materials, checksheets, and other work instructions.
- Perform all wiring tasks on MEPPI products according to drawings and Company specifications.
- Perform all testing requirements to ensure products meet quality and test requirements.
- Operate SF6 gas handling equipment and be able to evacuate and fill circuit breakers correctly and safely.
- Use various hand and power tools correctly and safely to assemble sub-assemblies and products.
- Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
- Inspect subassemblies and/or assemblies for defects by operating specialized test equipment, measurement devices, and visual checking. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
- Complete process check sheets, daily production sheets and other daily reporting and paperwork according to Company procedures.
- Support and assist the Production Supervisor as needed.
- Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, plus four years’ prior assembly/manufacturing experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of assembly policies, procedures and practices applicable to gas circuit breaker operations.
- Knowledge of applicable safety/operations procedures and policies necessary to operate certain machinery and equipment (e.g., fork truck, crane).
- Basic computer/data entry experience.
