POSITION SUMMARY

MEPPI's Service Center Division (SCD) is looking for a 8+ year experienced Senior Field Technician with knowledge and established relationships with Data Centers in the San Francisco, CA area. In this role you will perform project site coordination and services of power quality products including installations, start-ups, preventive maintenance, commissioning and troubleshooting, and repair for internal and external customers. Provide expert level technical support and train other technicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and direct contractors and MEPPI-designated personnel through all phases of service projects to meet site service requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provide expert level technical support to internal and external customers, including third party service organizations and end users.
  • Train other technicians to troubleshoot and repair product failures at the system level, both in the field and classroom settings. Develop advanced training materials for MEPPI product offerings.
  • Troubleshoot field incidents at the system level. Demonstrate ability to review system conditions and accurately predict system response to effectively troubleshoot the failure to the device/board level or to be able to identify potential failure modes beyond the immediate UPS system.
  • Provide service-related expert assessment and input for the planning and development of new MEPPI products and services
  • Provide emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.
  • Maintain service records and documentation of services provided.
  • Assist in the investigation and development of major Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) within your assigned region.
  • Submit accurate expense reports into the Company for reimbursement in a timely manner in accordance with Company policies.
  • Recommend service product offerings to customers based on customer preferences and for the long-term maintenance of the capital investment (e.g., recommend battery upgrades). Provide input for quotation of these services as needed.
  • Develop both generic and site-specific Methods of Procedures and coach other technicians on the proper process for creating these types of documents.
  • Review equipment failure trace files and provide feedback and coaching to other technicians.
  • Measure and analyze power quality readings on site, develop test reports, and provide recommendations to customers.
  • Further the goals and positive image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, customers, and suppliers in a timely and cooperative manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates in Electrical Electronics or related technical field with a minimum 8 years of experience with troubleshooting and repair of a technical, electrical and/or electronic product including 6 years of experience with Mitsubishi Electric UPS technology
  • Advanced field application knowledge of critical power systems, services, with specialized expertise in Mitsubishi Electric technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of common electrical equipment and facility power system components used in data centers.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of mechanical and electronic test equipment to include operation, data collection, data analysis, and advanced data reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of communications and networking protocols.
  • OSHA-30 construction, NFPA-70E certification, and advanced understanding of IEEE and UL891.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees and suppliers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, bills of material, and instruction manuals.
  • Ability to organize activities and work well in a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and MRP and CRM software.
