MEPPI’s Electrical Distribution Division (EDD) is seeking an experienced Senior Applications Engineer to perform engineering and project management activities that support customer orders, manufacturing, design, testing, and development efforts. In this role, you’ll lead technical support for customers, oversee order-specific engineering deliverables, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across EDD products.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure Technical Compliance: Review order documents to confirm all technical requirements are met, including exceptions, clarifications, and confirmations to customer specifications.
- Develop Technical Materials: Create product Bills of Material to support customer requirements and communicate effectively with EDD departments.
- Manage Documentation: Oversee and support preparation of drawings, BOMs, instruction books, and other technical documents for order fulfillment, manufacturing, and customer needs.
- Design Electrical Circuits: Lead development of customer-specific electrical circuits that align with contract requirements.
- Support Testing Requirements: Identify and communicate all non-standard testing needs throughout the department.
- Provide Customer Support: Resolve all technical questions related to customer orders, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
- Coordinate Design Efforts: Lead both internal and external design teams to ensure product designs meet EDD standards and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with Application Engineers: Ensure all customer order drawing requirements are accurately completed and delivered on time.
- Drive Product Development: Develop and design both electrical circuits and mechanical concepts, working with EDD Designers to finalize designs.
- Monitor Project Execution: Track open order items and drive them to completion in line with production schedules and customer commitments.
- Pursue Continuous Improvement: Recommend, investigate, and implement design enhancements and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Support Manufacturing & QC: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and vendors to resolve production, configuration, and design issues.
- Manage Vendor Relations: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure alignment with cost-reduction initiatives and technical standards.
- Address Field Issues: Participate in reviewing and resolving field incidents while identifying corrective actions.
- Assist Sales: Provide technical expertise and support contract administration efforts as required.
- Mentor Talent: Lead the training and development of newly hired Applications Engineers.
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: 6–9 years of experience in design or application engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge: Advanced understanding of transmission and distribution products.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, CAD, and engineering analysis software.
