POSITION SUMMARY
Manage the production, production engineering, shipping, and maintenance functions with an emphasis on safely delivering high quality products that meet customer requirements and commitments and maintaining positive employee relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee the Production Department, ensuring the assembly and verification of division products align with customer commitments. Manage with an emphasis on safety, positive employee relations, efficiency, and quality.
- Develop and execute improvement projects in production and assembly, focusing on process control, equipment, capacity, and productivity to enhance quality, cost, and delivery performance, while expediting the resolution of production issues.
- Drive lean initiatives to increase throughput and minimize operating expenses, measuring, and assessing production job labor content, setting process standards, and publishing relevant metrics for the assessment and improvement of production activities.
- Lead the modernization of the factory by enhancing the human-technological interface and managing corporate IT interfaces with new equipment and software.
- Lead the implementation of production plans supporting the introduction of new products and provide support for prototype assembly as necessary.
- Evaluate workforce utilization and operational data, including budgets, process flow charts, production schedules, and outbound transportation costs, with the goal of minimizing manufacturing costs and maximizing efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Conduct production meetings to supervise and ensure performance to the schedule.
- Support the Quality Manager in reviewing and approving all material dispositions.
- Manage the Production staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and division objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training and providing continued education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
- Provide support to the activities of the Safety Committee and the company’s Safety Program. Ensure safe production operations and thorough investigations of accidents and incidents.
- Provide support to the activities of the Company’s Environmental initiatives.
- Prepare and manage the Production section budgets.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field with a minimum of 7 years of production experience and a minimum of 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge in the production of made-to-order products.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS office products.
