Quality Department Manager - Critical Power

POSITION SUMMARY

MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is looking for a Quality Department Manager to lead and perform quality assurance functions to ensure Critical Power products and services meet the requirements of industry standards, design specifications and customer expectations. In addition, the successful candidate will implement programs to ensure the development, application and maintenance of quality control and assurance standards and procedures for all CPSD suppliers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage all quality activities of CPSD with emphasis on safety, employee relations and ensuring materials, product and finished goods meet quality requirements and customer expectations.
  • Create, maintain and further the development of CPSD's Quality Management System (QMS), Quality Standard Procedures (QSPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all product lines, service offerings and CPSD acquisitions.
  • Manage the quality staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and division objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and operate in accordance with the shop wage programs including testing of employees for skill requirements.
  • Lead creation and maintenance of manufacturing check sheets and testing procedures to ensure quality standards and customer requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement required quality control policies, procedures, forms, checklists, reports, etc. to ensure supplier compliance to certification requirements. Work with suppliers to improve product inputs as needed.
  • Maintain an ISO-9001 certified program. Prepare for and support external registrar audits.
  • Lead qualification and evaluation of vendors to ensure their capability to produce quality products.
  • Oversee the coordination, investigation and resolution of quality problems and field incidents. Determine root causes and coordinate correct and preventive actions. Resolve customer inquiries to satisfaction in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing value-added product changes and overall cost reductions. Establish programs to address customer requirements for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, monitor and audit MRRs to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of identified issues. Coordinate action regarding the disposition of MRRs.
  • Maintain the division’s calibration program.
  • Supervise and perform, as needed, administrative functions for RMA and VRMA processes.
  • Further the development of an internal audit process of the CPSD Quality Management System.
  • Prepare and manage the staffing plans and budgets for the QA department.
  • Prepare monthly status and performance reports.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of CPSD by working with customers, vendors and Division personnel to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum 10 years of experience in quality control and a minimum 5 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic controls, online computer-based quality signoffs, test reporting, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of and training in quality control functions such as statistical process control, Deming methods, ISO9000, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Lean, JIT, Kaizen, Six Sigma and others.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable government and industry quality codes and standards for purchase products.
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required to communicate with employees, customers and vendors.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and MRP/ERP systems
