Powering Critical Infrastructure: Deliver Expert Service for Mission-Critical Power Systems with MEPPI!

MEPPI's Service Center Division (SCD) is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Field Service Technician to perform service support activities, troubleshoot, and repair single and three-phase uninterruptible power supplies and peripherals for internal and external customers. In this role, you'll provide on-site customer service, technical support, emergency field service, and advanced troubleshooting while helping customers maintain reliable power quality and energy storage systems.

What You'll Do

Deliver Expert Field Service

  • Perform on-site customer service of power quality products including start-up service, preventative and remedial maintenance, field modification, and testing.
  • Identify, evaluate, and repair routine product failures while escalating non-routine product failures to the Supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions to a board level in a UPS system with minimal guidance.

Be the Customer Connection

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including third-party service organizations and end users.
  • Schedule technical sales or service support for customers, including emergency service calls.
  • Recommend service product offerings to customers based on customer preferences and the long-term maintenance of their capital investment, such as battery upgrades.

Inspect & Evaluate Equipment

  • Inspect, test, and document failed products, components, and systems prior to their return to the factory to determine defects and/or operational status.
  • Work with other MEPPI departments to determine product solutions for improved performance and protection.

Provide Emergency & On-Call Support

  • Schedule and provide emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.
  • Attend daily project meetings as required.

Maintain Technical Documentation

  • Maintain service records and documentation of services provided.
  • Develop and deliver detailed documentation on the analysis of issues associated with the repair or inspection of UPS and/or energy storage equipment.
  • Submit accurate expense reports into the Company for reimbursement in a timely manner in accordance with Company policies.

Support & Develop Other Technicians

  • Guide less experienced technicians on troubleshooting system failures.

Represent MEPPI Professionally

  • Build positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams while supporting the Division's commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or related technical field with four (4) years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of a technical, electrical, and/or electronic product, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of UPS products, services, and peripherals, including knowledge of common electrical equipment used in data centers.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of mechanical and electronic test equipment, including operation, data collection, and data reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of communication and networking protocols.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed equipment schematics and facility one-line drawings.

Certifications

  • OSHA-10 construction certification.
  • NFPA-70E certification.

Skills

  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and suppliers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and MRP/ERP business systems.
