Commercial Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Lead, oversee and optimize all commercial operations and strategy to ensure operational efficiency and risk mitigation. Integrate business development, contract management, financial oversight, marketing, and market intelligence to drive profitability, competitive positioning, and long-term strategic success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and direct the Commercial Operations staff to meet the objectives of the Power Systems Engineering Division.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, ensuring alignment with Company Limits of Authority policy, approval workflows, and risk tolerance. prepare Terms & Condition summaries and Red Books.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive revenue, improve profitability, and enhance market positioning.
  • Lead efforts to streamline and document commercial workflow processes, commercial operations, improve efficiency, and improve client response times.
  • Develop and refine business plans, annual budgets, and financial forecasting.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to division-specific financial controls and operational processes.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and financial metric tracking across all consulting engagements.
  • Identify and recommend new service offerings, market entry strategies, and partnership opportunities.
  • Support sales development, opportunity tracking, proposal development, and sales negotiations.
  • Develop and refine pricing strategies, margin improvement initiatives, and financial reporting practices.
  • Establish and manage centralized contract repository to track contract status, risk assessment, and compliance obligations.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics for business development, internal technical development activities, profitability, contract compliance, and marketing effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed and executive-level financial program reports. Develop and deliver presentations that communicate the division’s financial performance, trends, and strategic outlook.
  • Manage and direct staff according to Company policies and procedures to achieve Division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by professionally representing the Company with customers and through interaction with other MEPPI departments and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in sales, commercial operations, and business development, and a minimum of 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with contract negotiation and management.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with developing and executing commercial strategies.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Products, CRM, and financial tracking and analysis tools
