Test Lab Technician - Critical Power

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinate and oversee testing lab for the Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD). Perform scheduling, testing and maintenance of lab facilities and equipment. Develop lab procedures, create test plans and document test results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Configure and set up lab, test equipment and software for testing according to the lab schedule.
  • Create test plans with the engineering team for factory witness tests, first kind of tests, root cause testing and development testing. Develop testing parameters and acceptance criteria based on equipment and performance specifications.
  • Perform testing according to the test plans, record test measurements and results, document and report results.
  • Coordinate lab maintenance in accordance with the lab maintenance schedule, identify maintenance items based on maintenance testing, ensure lab metering equipment is calibrated and current, maintain lab data acquisition system and update testing software as needed.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of testing and equipment issues.
  • Create and document operational procedures for the test labs as required. Oversee testing on the lab floor to ensure all safety procedures are followed.
  • Conduct lab training to CPSD staff as needed.
  • Identify and recommend rental equipment to meet testing requirements when needed. Oversee installation and removal of rental equipment. Operate rental equipment for testing and provide equipment training as needed.
  • Identify, recommend and oversee implementation of lab improvements.
  • Work with vendors to resolve any technical design issues related to testing equipment.
  • Provide CPSD product support at customer sites and trade shows as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology with 3-5 years of experience with product testing or development, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of power electronic devices such as uninterruptible power supply (UPS), VFD, solar inverter, grid tie inverter.
  • Advanced knowledge of testing instrumentation and specialized testing software.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, CAD and engineering analysis software
