Supply Chain Manager

Position Summary

MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to manage the supply chain functions of purchasing, inventory management, customer order management, and material for the divsion. In addition, the successful candidate will coordinate and support purchasing and strategic sourcing activities for CPSD production, engineering, service, capital investments and facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Manage all activities related to CPSD supply chain management with emphasis on inventory management, material costs, risk management, contingency planning, and overall supply base performance.
  • Research and develop long-term supply chain strategies to CPSD and MEPPI objectives. Implement best practice techniques to measure and drive supply chain improvements to delivery, price, quality, responsiveness, environmental performance, and inventory turns performance.
  • Serve as liaison between vendors/suppliers and CPSD to maximize and maintain vendor/supplier performance. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on price, lead times, delivery schedules and back-to-back terms and conditions as appropriate to support customer commitments. Participate in new supplier qualification ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and customer commitments, emphasizing quality standards.
  • Oversee purchasing activities and customer order management staff according to the requirements of MEPPI’s business system and the production and forecast schedules to maximize overall efficiency.
  • Manage and communicate product forecasts with MELCO and other key vendors. Collaborate with appropriate CPSD personnel on establishing forecasts while supporting production and managing customer expectations and business inventory levels. Analyze forecast against supplier capacity and lead times. Approve forecast purchase orders as appropriate.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions, conflict resolution, and discrepant material (MRR) cost recovery.
  • Oversee and execute sourcing, negotiations, and procurement of capital expenditures for CPSD, as needed.
  • Analyze and optimize costs and timeliness of inbound and outbound transportation as part of supply arrangements and develop and execute action plans to reduce costs and improve performance of freight forwarders.
  • Monitor and drive improvement of established purchasing performance metrics and approve POs per limit of authority.
  • Maintain optimal inventory of production materials, such as bill of materials items, electrical and mechanical parts and components, and expense items to efficiently support continuous production as appropriate.
  • Review quotes, proposals, requisitions, and purchase orders for accuracy and conformance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Collaborate with in-house legal counsel as necessary to create legal documents and contracts for procurement of materials and services.
  • Utilize digital technology solutions to enhance supply chain efficiency and performance.
  • Oversee the placement and management of purchase orders for Spare Parts inventories ensuring quality assurance and delivery control.
  • Manage the supply chain staff according to Company policies and procedures to safely and effectively achieve Company and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Operations Department by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, suppliers, etc. in a timely and cooperative manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of experience in purchasing and/or materials coordination and a minimum 3 years’ management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced skills in supply chain systems and techniques including experience with global sourcing.
  • Ability to negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, relational databases, and MRP/ERP systems.
