POSITION SUMMARY:
MEPPI is looking for a National Sales Manager to lead our National Sales Department in driving the strategic goals, sales plans, and business objectives for the Transportation Systems Division (TSD). In this high-impact role, you will manage and develop the execution of outside sales, customer account planning, and customer relationship management strategies. Your leadership will be key to consistently achieving both annual and long-term growth objectives for the Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all sales activities of the National Sales Department for TSD.
- Support the development of sales plans and strategies to achieve Division sales and business plans. Track and report performance of sales efforts against sales goals. Present recommendations for improvement or change in strategy, policy, product and/or procedures, including those related to product development and product launch, to the General Manager, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain contacts and relationships at customer organizations and with key industry personnel. Represent TSD in industry related organizations and events. Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and events as appropriate.
- Develop plans for key customers, outlining goals, objectives, and action plans to achieve mutual success. Identify growth opportunities, set targets, and define strategies for key customers.
- Provide assistance to Department and Division personnel in establishing personal contact, rapport and technical credibility with key stakeholders at prospective or existing customers.
- Assist Inside Sales Department with the sales closing process and achieve the orders entered objectives of the division. Track and report performance metrics against targets. Support customer contract negotiations, as needed.
- Prepare and conduct sales presentations for Division products and services.
- Collaborate with Marketing on the launch of new product and service offerings.
- Monitor, analyze and report on customer, market and competitor activity and develop related recommendations to ensure business and sales plans are achieved.
- Provide leadership, technical advice and direction, and general coaching to direct reports and others. Lead and oversee sales goal setting and goal achievement of the National Sales team.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with MELCO, MEUS, other MEPPI divisions, partners, and MELCO affiliate companies, as appropriate.
- Prepare and manage Department budgets and staffing plans. Assist in resolving department-related operational, personnel and/or customer challenges and situations through swift and collaborative problem resolution.
- Lead Department personnel according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary and incentive decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing or business with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in selling business-to-business products and a minimum of 5 years of sales or marketing management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills required to communicate with employees and customers.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize activities and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and materials.
- Demonstrated ability of building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively executing across all functions and levels of an organization
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and CRM tools.
