POSITION SUMMARY
Perform service support activities, troubleshoot, and repair high voltage switchgear and communicate with internal and external customers for the High Voltage Switchgear Division (HVSD).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform on-site customer service of HVSD products including preventative and remedial maintenance, field modification, and testing.
- Assist with the assembly of equipment including assembly techniques and quality control. Perform installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair work.
- Lead morning jobsite briefings covering planned work activities, hazards and mitigations, and safety precautions and plans.
- Conduct safety observations of site personnel as they perform their tasks. Fill in and submit safety observation forms to the Company for data analysis.
- Inspect, test, and document failed products and their components prior to their return to the factory to determine defects and/or operational status.
- Provide emergency technical support and field service on an on-call basis.
- Identify, evaluate, and repair routine switchgear issues. Identify and escalate non routine switchgear issues to Supervisor.
- Recommend service product offerings to customers based on customer preferences and for the long-term maintenance of the capital investment (e.g., MEPPI offered maintenance plans).
- Troubleshoot malfunctions within AC and DC circuits.
- Maintain service records and documentation of services provided.
- Submit accurate expense reports to the Company for reimbursement in a timely manner in accordance with Company policies.
- Further the goals and a positive image of HVSD by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, customers, and suppliers in a timely and cooperative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate in electrical engineering or related technical field with 1-3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of a technical, electrical and/or electronic product, or equivalent education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge and proficiency of mechanical and electronic test equipment.
- Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and suppliers.
- Ability to read and understand detailed equipment schematics and facility one-line drawings
- Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and MRP/ERP business systems.
- Valid driver's license.
