Supplier Quality Engineer II

Position Summary

Plan, direct and support activities to assess and provide root cause analyses and corrective action implementation for HVSD supplier quality problems. Provide primary support to the Quality Management for implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance programs at HVSD including the ISO 9001.

Essential Functions

  • Support and lead root cause investigations, fault tree or fish-bone diagram development for supplier issues in order to support division goals.
  • Support and lead corrective action development and implementation for supplier quality issues. Verify
  • effectiveness of implemented corrective actions to improve supplier quality performance.
  • Assist HVSD Division Managers and Quality Assurance Team as it pertains to root cause investigations and corrective action projects.
  • Lead work with HVSD HV suppliers to develop 5-WHY and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA's) for divisional needs.
  • Review, trend, and close-out supplier nonconformities and incidents.
  • Work with Design and Application Engineering, and Production personnel to capture as-built design problems.
  • Interface between suppliers, incoming inspection, production and engineering to resolve in-process supplier product assembly problems.
  • Participate in and/or lead internal and supplier audits upon request. Work with all departments to help close audit findings in an effective and timely manner.
  • Coordinate continued evaluation of procedures and documentation throughout HVSD, especially in the areas of incoming inspection, assembly and testing; evaluate for completeness, accuracy, and lack of redundancy.
  • Facilitate in-house Quality Assurance and manufacturing improvement programs throughout HVSD.
  • Provide problem resolution support to incoming inspection teams
  • Perform Field Incident Report data analyses and identify trends for Preventive Actions as required to support thef Quality Assurance Department.
  • Travel to supplier locations to audit, analyze and remedy quality problems.
  • Continue education in industrial Quality Assurance best practices and ISO-9000 philosophy and systems.
  • Assist the HVSD Department Managers in assuring that Quality Records are generated, retained, stored, protected and disposed according to HVSD Division and Company policy.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field plus minimum 5years’ experience in quality control and/or assurance function, with specific experience and training in quality techniques, such as SPC, Deming Methods, 5- WHY, etc., or equivalent education and experience.
  • Developed knowledge of ISO-9000 and/or Quality Assurance and manufacturing improvement practices such as Lean and Six Sigma and an understanding of the underlying philosophy.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and MRP/ERP systems.
