MEPPI’s Transportation Systems Division (TSD) is seeking a driven and experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead our production, testing, material planning, and maintenance operations. This key leadership role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of TSD products that meet customer commitments—all while fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Manufacturing Operations:
Oversee all TSD production activities with a focus on safety, quality, employee engagement, and operational efficiency. Drive timely and accurate delivery of products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Optimize Performance & Resources:
Continuously improve workflows, equipment utilization, and staffing levels to meet or surpass production, quality, and budgetary targets.
Develop & Empower Your Team:
Manage and develop manufacturing staff in accordance with company policies. Provide coaching, training, and cross-training opportunities to build skills and foster career growth. Conduct performance reviews and oversee wage progression programs.
Deliver on Business Plans:
Monitor and evaluate performance against business plans and customer commitments. Identify challenges and implement timely solutions to maintain delivery and performance standards.
Manage Budgets & Capital Plans:
Prepare and manage departmental budgets, capital expenditure plans, and operational reports, ensuring alignment with division and company goals.
Drive Continuous Improvement:
Lead special projects aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and product quality. Promote lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives that deliver measurable results.
Maintain Equipment & Facilities:
Oversee the maintenance and optimization of fixtures, tools, cranes, and other essential shop assets. Determine maintenance intervals and coordinate outside services as needed.
Introduce New Equipment & Processes:
Conceptualize, design, and procure new tools, machinery, and equipment to meet evolving production needs. Lead successful implementation of new technologies and processes.
Support Product Development:
Collaborate with engineering teams to support the introduction of new products and assembly of prototypes. Facilitate smooth transitions from prototype to full-scale production.
Set Performance Standards:
Develop and maintain work measurement programs to analyze labor utilization. Publish monthly reports tracking labor and efficiency metrics.
Ensure Process Control:
Organize, document, and update processes, work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation in compliance with quality and safety standards.
Champion Safety & Collaboration:
Provide technical guidance to the Safety Committee and promote a culture of safety across all manufacturing areas. Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve challenges and drive shared success.
Engage with Partners:
Travel to customer and vendor facilities as needed to resolve open issues, improve communication, and strengthen relationships.
What You Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3 years of management experience—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
