Position Summary
The Group Controller is responsible for leading the day-to-day financial operations of the Business Group, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls. This role oversees general, cost, and project accounting functions while managing a team of accounting professionals.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Financial Operations: Oversee day-to-day financial activities for the Business Group, including general, cost, and project accounting.
- Drive Accurate Reporting: Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate results and compliance with company standards.
- Own the Audit Process: Coordinate and manage quarterly and annual external audits, preparing documentation and serving as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Deliver Strategic Insights: Develop and present internal financial reports and analysis that provide leadership with clear visibility into operating performance.
- Ensure Regulatory Readiness: Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for external stakeholders, including government agencies and tax partners.
- Build High-Performing Teams: Lead, coach, and develop Accounting staff through training, cross-training, performance feedback, and career development.
- Strengthen Financial Controls: Maintain the Business Group’s system of accounts to ensure accurate tracking of all transactions and assets.
- Champion Compliance: Partner with Corporate Internal Audit to enhance inventory and fixed asset controls and support JSox and process documentation requirements.
- Establish Best Practices: Ensure adherence to GAAP while developing and refining accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage Financial Risk: Quantify foreign exchange exposure and ensure exchange contracts comply with hedge accounting requirements.
- Enable Business Planning: Lead the consolidation and preparation of financial plans in collaboration with operating divisions.
- Bridge Accounting & Technology: Serve as the key interface between Accounting and IT to support ERP systems and drive process improvements.
- Guide Trade Compliance: Lead the Business Group on importing programs and compliance initiatives, including Drawback, C-TPAT, and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).
What You’ll Bring
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Accounting Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Systems Acumen: Strong experience with ERP platforms and manufacturing financial processes.
- Analytical Strength: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Executive Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Leadership Impact: Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Digital Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and complex spreadsheet analysis.
