Payroll and Benefits Coordinator – Human Resources Department
Are you an organized, service-oriented HR professional who thrives on helping employees and ensuring smooth daily operations? Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to provide exceptional administrative support, deliver responsive employee service, and coordinate payroll and benefits activities with accuracy, professionalism, and discretion.
In this role you will be essential to maintain trust across the organizations, supporting employees, protecting sensitive information, and contributing to a positive HR experience.
What You’ll Do:
Employee Service & Administrative Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for employees regarding pay, taxes, benefit coverage, and HR processes.
- Provide friendly, timely, and clear responses to employee questions, delivering excellent service with a helpful and professional approach.
- Handle confidential information with a high degree of sensitivity, judgment, and integrity.
- Support pre-employment activities, onboarding documentation, and the setup and maintenance of accurate personnel files.
- Ensure electronic and paper employee records are organized, secure, and compliant.
Payroll Coordination
- Assist in preparing and processing biweekly payroll for hourly, non-exempt, and salaried employees.
- Review timekeeping data, process tax and direct deposit updates, and support adjustments as needed.
- Process wage verifications, garnishments, and payroll compliance-related activities.
- Support year-end payroll and timekeeping responsibilities.
Benefits Administration
- Process benefit enrollments, life events, and terminations.
- Provide timely and accurate assistance to employees with benefit questions.
- Support Open Enrollment communication and logistics.
- Coordinate contributions and updates for 401(k), HSA, FSA, and deferred compensation plans.
Operational & Process Support
- Maintain accurate and current data in payroll systems, HRIS, ATS, and onboarding platforms.
- Participate in ongoing improvements to payroll and HR processes, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Provide administrative backup to HR Operations and support HR Management as needed.
- Foster positive working relationships with internal teams and external vendors such as ADP and Fidelity.
What You Bring:
- Associate’s degree in Business, HR, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll, or equivalent education and experience.
- Relevant experience using payroll software, HRIS, ATS, and onboarding systems.
- Strong customer service mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll practices, benefits administration, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, automated timekeeping, and payroll tools.
