Cost Analyst

Position Summary

Analyze manufacturing and general and administrative costs of MEPPI divisions. Analyze multi-business transactions generated by day-to-day general accounting for revenue recognition, cost recognition, inventory monitoring and accruals.

Essential Functions

  • Provide operations analysis for assigned business units. Develop reporting formats, compile statistics and data, quantify and evaluate information for division management action. Provide commentary and reasons for changes to financial indicators.
  • Provide advice and counsel to division personnel on the appropriate approaches to entering information into company business system modules; e.g., projects, service, customer order, quality, finance, production, inventory.
  • Lead annual physical inventories and inactive/obsolete inventory review for multiple businesses and locations.
  • Perform Bill of Material cost reviews for multiple divisions and businesses.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly division reports for irregularities, trends, accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze accruals and other journal entries during monthly closings.
  • Perform Work-in-Process and inventory analysis.
  • Review and reconcile inventory reports to the general ledger.
  • Assist in quarterly and annual audit preparation.
  • Perform analysis and tracking of monthly department budgets.
  • Perform monthly project management tasks including revenue recognition, cost forecasting, and invoicing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, plus 3-5 years’ experience with factory accounting and/or
  • developing cost structures in manufacturing or industrial businesses, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cost Accounting principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practical applications as defined by Generally Accepted
  • Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to effectively work and communicate
  • with others.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with detailed knowledge of MS Office products including spreadsheet capabilities and large complex business systems.
