POSITION SUMMARY
Analyze project, general, and administrative costs of assigned MEPPI divisions. Analyze business transactions generated by day-to-day general accounting for revenue recognition, cost recognition, project management/forecasting, accruals and reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide accounting guidance, analysis and direction regarding divisional strategy, initiatives, and operations to Division leadership. Serve as the primary point of contact between project-based Divisions and Accounting.
- Monitor, analyze and prepare financial reporting of monthly results and key performance indicators. Identify and report on variances and trends.
- Process financial transactions and journal entries supporting monthly financial closings. Provide support to A/R to ensure timely and complete project billing and cash collection.
- Conduct analysis and collaborate with other team members to identify risks and opportunities and mitigation strategies.
- Assist project managers with review, presentation, and communication of financial results.
- Monitor and report project financial performance and develop indexes/system to predict future performance.
- Audit project Revenue and Cost Forecasts (RCF). Identify and report on financial impacts of forecast revisions and changes.
- Assure compliance with GAAP and MEPPI policies and procedures related to project invoicing, foreign currency exchange, revenue and cost forecasting and recognition.
- Advise, counsel and train analysts and finance personnel on appropriate methods for capturing data related to business transactions and entering information into the business system.
- Provide financial data to support annual business planning.
- Conduct post-project reviews to compare bid versus final financial outcomes
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division through effective interaction with customers, vendors and internal departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with 5-8 years of relevant accounting experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting methods, principles and practices including project accounting, financial analysis and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to communicate with employees.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information in a manner that can be understood by non-financial partners.
- Ability to work in a team environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and spreadsheet capabilities
