Material Center Supervisor - 1st shift

MEPPI’s Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking a reliable and hands-on Material Center Supervisor to lead material handling operations that support SWGD production. In this role, you will supervise the movement, handling, kitting, expediting, assembly, leak testing, and inventory control activities within the Material Center—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality material flow while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Training for this position will be conducted at our Freedom, PA Material Center until the new facility opens. Upon opening of the Advanced Switchgear Facility, this position will be based at 1000 Electric Avenue, New Galilee, PA 16141.


What You’ll Do

Lead Daily Material Center Operations: Develop weekly work schedules and assign daily tasks based on production requirements while promoting positive employee relations and adhering to company policies.


Supervise Material Handling Activities: Oversee staff responsible for scheduling, receiving, kitting, moving, and handling production materials and sub-assembly jobs according to current SOPs.


Ensure Documentation Accuracy: Review all job paperwork and verify that all job documentation is completed properly and thoroughly.


Apply Company Policies & Procedures: Supervise employees in alignment with company policies and expectations.


Develop & Train Employees: Provide training, cross-training, and continuing education opportunities for warehouse personnel; ensure all required training is completed.


Conduct Performance Reviews: Evaluate employees based on attendance, quality, productivity, cooperation, and teamwork; perform formal reviews according to MEPPI policies.


Drive Efficiency & Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to enhance productivity, safety, and quality within the Material Center.


Promote Safety & Compliance: Ensure Material Center workers follow safety procedures; conduct accident investigations as needed.


Lead Daily Shift Meetings: Hold start-of-shift meetings to review work assignments, safety reminders, procedural updates, and daily priorities.


Maintain Accurate Material Transactions: Ensure all material movements and transactions are recorded on paper or in the business system as required.


Enforce Procedures: Ensure employees follow established Material Center procedures and standards.


Manage VRMAs & MRRs: Ensure VRMAs and MRRs are processed and expedited on time to support production needs.


Maintain a Clean, Organized Work Area: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the Material Center to support efficiency and safety.


What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Material Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal and group presentation abilities
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and employee development

Technology Proficiency:

  • Developed computer skills with MS Office
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Syteline
