Service Product Line Manager

Position Summary

The Service Product Line Manager is responsible for leading the coordination, planning, execution, and sales strategy for aftermarket services across new and existing fleet systems. This role oversees training and maintenance contracts, time-and-material services, equipment upgrades and replacements, monitoring services, extended warranties, and field incident resolution. The position carries full P&L responsibility and plays a critical role in shaping the long-term success of MEPPI’s service portfolio.

What You’ll Do

Product Line & Business Leadership

  • Lead assigned Service Center product lines and manage full Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.
  • Develop and execute aftermarket service strategies across MEPPI to support long-term business growth.
  • Prepare, present, and defend business plans for review and approval by Company leadership.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements; monitor performance against objectives and adjust plans as needed.
  • Manage budgets, departmental resources, and long-range business planning activities.

Project & Operational Execution

  • Lead service and replacement projects to ensure alignment with schedule, revenue, and profitability commitments.
  • Direct cross-functional teams in accordance with Company policies, including hiring, development, training, cross-training, performance management, and compensation input.

Sales & Service Strategy

  • Build and execute national service contract strategies, including pricing, sales targets, and value-proposition development.
  • Lead customer negotiations involving warranty matters, lifecycle replacement strategies, alternative solutions, and field quality incident resolution.
  • Oversee the spare parts supply chain and remote storage facility inventories to ensure high service availability.

Customer, Vendor & Partner Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, service providers, and strategic partners.
  • Lead product proposals, contract negotiations, and risk assessments in accordance with MEPPI’s Limits of Authority (LOA).

Growth, M&A & Strategic Initiatives

  • Maintain and execute the service product line growth roadmap and supporting strategies.
  • Drive service acquisition strategy and oversee integration of acquired service businesses into MEPPI operations.
  • Lead the start-up of new regional service offices and operations.
  • Support the General Manager of the Service Center Division and recommend improvements to Company policies, processes, and procedures.

What You'll Bring:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field with 10+ years of service management experience and 5+ years of people management, or equivalent combination.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of UPS systems and service market dynamics.
  • Product Line Experience: Background in service product line development.
  • Contract Expertise: Ability to read, interpret, and negotiate contracts and proposal language.
  • Communication Skills: Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for engagement with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly for technical issues.
  • Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments, including familiarity with Japanese business culture.
  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and MS Project for reporting, analysis, and scheduling.
